Experienced Process Engineer
AML is a well-established manufacturing company supplying specialist equipment to the semiconductor industry. We have been designing and building integrated wafer-aligning and bonding systems for nearly 30 years and have a team of engineers working on constant development of our machines.
We supply systems for both R&D and production to universities, research institutes and commercial companies, with a worldwide market.
The Position:
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Process Engineer to join our small engineering team based on Harwell Campus, near Didcot.
The job is normally 7.75 hours per day (plus 45-minute lunch break) Monday to Friday. Flexibility to travel within the UK and worldwide to install our clients’ machines will be required.

The job is normally 7.75 hours per day (plus 45-minute lunch break) Monday to Friday, at our premises on Harwell Campus, Oxfordshire. Flexibility to travel within the UK and worldwide to install or service our clients’ machines may be required.
• Carrying out Factory Acceptance tests on Aligner Wafer Bonders (AWB)
• Carrying out Site Acceptance tests on AWBs and customer training (overseas)
• Maintaining and updating various procedures and quality documents, including AWB Manual
• Managing small clean room including maintenance and calibration of various diagnostic tools
• R&D work on bonding process using DOE
• Working closely with production and design team on bonder development and improvements, including bonder automation
• Taking part in international conferences, writing and presenting AML R&D work
• Software testing
• Maintaining wafer and chemical stock
• 3+ years’ experience in semiconductor wafer processing: e.g. photolithography, wet cleaning, etching, metallisation, etc.
• Theoretical knowledge and understanding of semiconductor materials and wafer processing
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Openminded and flexible, able to engage in projects of different nature (process, R&D, machine development, software testing, clean room management)
• Availability to travel abroad up to 3 times a year
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Attention to detail
• Good understanding and adherence to Quality System
• Have a natural ability to take initiative and respond quickly and effectively to solve problems
• Have excellent time management skills and be willing to show flexibility to meet the needs of our business
• Passionate, ambitious and with “can do attitude”
• Experience in operating various diagnostics equipment e.g. microscope, wafer profiler, Atomic Force Microscope, Scanning Acoustic Microscope, SEM, TEM.
